Cap (affiliate offer cap)
A cap is a limit on how many clicks, conversions or how much payout an offer accepts in a period, overall or per affiliate.
A cap limits an offer's volume in a period: for example 100 conversions a day, or €5,000 of payout a month. Caps can apply to the whole offer or to each affiliate.
Why advertisers set caps
To control their budget, protect their sales team's capacity, or test a new affiliate with low volume before scaling.
What happens at the cap
Depending on the network, extra traffic is redirected to a fallback offer or the conversions are no longer paid. Good platforms warn the team before the cap is reached.
