Deep link

A deep link is a tracking link that sends the visitor to a specific page: a product, a category, a landing page for a campaign, instead of the advertiser's homepage.

Why affiliates use them

Sending a visitor straight to what they were reading about converts much better than making them search for it.

Safety

Networks usually restrict deep links to the advertiser's own domains, so tracking links can't be used to send traffic to unrelated sites.
