Affiliate program for courses and digital products: commissions and launches

How to sell online courses, ebooks and other digital products with affiliates: what commission to pay, how to prepare a launch and what to do about refunds.

Updated on 7 Nov 2026

With digital products, each extra sale costs almost nothing to deliver. So you can pay high commissions, and affiliates (other creators, teachers, newsletters) are often the best sales channel.

The commission

  • A high percentage, since it's a digital product, or a fixed amount per sale when the price doesn't change.
  • For courses with a monthly fee or a paid community, a recurring commission while the student keeps paying.
  • For free classes or webinars, an amount per sign-up (lead), so affiliates fill the room before the sale.

Launches

In a launch, sales are packed into a few days:

  • Give partners the links and texts one or two weeks before.
  • Set the dates clearly: the offer can start and end on its own.
  • Consider a bonus for the affiliates who sell most during the launch.

Refunds

Digital products often come with a money-back guarantee. Approve commissions only after the guarantee ends; a refunded sale comes off the affiliate's balance.

Who can promote you

Happy students, creators on the same topic with different audiences, communities and newsletters. See how to find affiliates.
