Chargeback
A chargeback is a payment reversed by the customer's bank or card issuer. In affiliate marketing, it should reverse the affiliate's commission too.
A chargeback happens when a customer disputes a card payment and the bank takes the money back from the merchant. Unlike a refund, it's forced by the bank.
Why it matters for affiliates
A sale that's charged back earned the merchant nothing, so the affiliate's commission on it should be reversed. A high chargeback rate from one affiliate is also a classic sign of fraud, such as stolen cards.
In Rastro
When the advertiser reports the conversion as reversed, the commission leaves the affiliate's balance automatically, and the affiliate's postback reports the reversal. See Advertiser postback.
